The director and producers wish to thank the ~100 passionate artists and industry professionals who generously donated their time and talents to make something so unique and thrilling. We couldn't have pulled this off without each and every one of you. Thank you all for teaming up with us!
Barbara Szeman - Producer
Barbara Szeman has been working as a producer, assistant director and actress for over a decade. She is a member of the Directors Guild of Canada, the Canadian Media Producer's Association and remains high in demand having earned a stelar reputation on films like Robocop, Poltergeist, Pixels, Suicide Squad and countless other television shows and pilots.
Barbara has always been uniquely creative and a dedicated professional. Her passion for filmmaking and storytelling also keeps her at the forefront of new technologies, whether it be incorporating high-tech drones and state-of-the art GPU-based volumetric VFX like she did on "Willa", or exploring new forms of storytelling like she did in her experimental venture into 360 degree filmmaking on "3 AM" — which went viral thanks to Ashton Kutcher (over 8.1 million views!).
Barbara also created her own sports entertainment series, BarbWireTV (2013-2016), which featured professional athletes like Steve Nash, Steven Stamkos, Patrick Patterson and Luke Willson, sparking sponsored episodes by TSN, World Gaming, Coca-Cola and Vitamin Water.
Now steeped in post-production on "Willa" at Deluxe Toronto, pre-production on her followup film, and AD-ing on various other major film sets, Barbara continues to be one of the hardest working people in the industry.
Corey Mayne - Director
Fuelled by a life-long passion for the sci-fi/horror genres, Corey Mayne pursued a degree in film production at Sheridan College in 2004. After graduating in 2007, Corey began his industry career as a technical director/VFX artist at Sony Imageworks in Culver City, CA and Pixar in Emeryvile, CA, honing his technical prowess alongside some of the greatest talent in the industry. He also made sure to take advantage of Pixar's internal writing/directing enrichment courses and shadow their directors.
Years later, Corey began to focus more on the genre he loves, getting hired to work on shows like Prometheus, Penny Dreadful, Game of Thrones and Vikings. While working on the Poltergeist in Toronto, Corey reunited with his longtime friend, Barbara Szeman, and they began to collaborate on several new projects under the banners of their own production companies— with their adaptation of Stephen King's "Willa" being the first of many they have slated.
Kelsi Mayne - Willa
Kelsi Mayne is a Canadian actress and country music singer/songwriter. She divides her time between Toronto and Nashville — acting, and performing in concert — and is recognized as a Boots & Hearts main stage performer, CMAOntario New Faces Showcase artist, two-time CCMA "Diamonds in the Rough" artist, CMAO's final Artist of the Month (2017), and is an OAC and FACTOR grant recipient.
As an actress, Kelsi is best known for her lead roles in the 2018 Stephen King short film "Willa", and The River Town Saints’ hit music video, "Cherry Bomb." Kelsi also produces and directs her own music videos. Her recently released video for her new single , "Your Jolene", being a clever retort to Dolly Parton's classic "Jolene".
Kelsi has shared bills with names like Florida Georgia Line, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Dean Brody, Randy Houser, Chris Young, and Cam. She has also collaborated with top industry professionals including Ryan Stewart (two-time Juno award winner and writer/producer for Carly Rae Jepsen, Victoria Duffield, Hedley), David Genn (multi-Juno award winner and writer/producer/musician for 54-40, Mariana's Trench, Matthew Good Band), two-time Grammy nominated producer/songwriter/musician Curt Chambers, and Jason Blaine (CCMA, CMAO, and SOCAN award-winning artist/songwriter).
Kelsi is poised to release more music this summer and you can catch her performing at festivals all across Canada. For more details, check out her website below.
Adrian Jaworski - DavID
Raised in Windsor ON, Adrian Jaworski made his way to Toronto after booking several commercial acting gigs in 2012. Like any successful actor, the lucrative commercial gigs gave Adrian the opportunity to support and bolster ambitious independent films that told thrilling stories he believed in, thus earning accolades for his work in films like "True Human" (official selection in Festival De Cannes Short Film Corner) and "Happy Days" (Winner of the GoGreen International film festival in L.A.)
Adrian played an integral part in his most recent, and ambitious film to date — "Willa". Not only did he completely immerse himself in the film's leading male roll, but his involvement early on in pre-production helped propel the project's successful fundraising and advertising campaigns. It's one thing to be a solid actor, but Adrian's impeccable business instincts continue to propel him to another level.
